A racing car made from electronic waste has been unveiled by Formula E racing team Envision Racing and driven by actor and UNEP goodwill ambassador Aidan Gallagher. The car, named Recover-e, was created by designer Liam Hopkins from donated electronic products, including iPhones, chargers, laptops, batteries and single-use vapes. Annual e-waste production is on track to reach 75 million tonnes globally by 2030. The team hopes the car will raise awareness about e-waste and electronic recycling. “The purpose of it is to open up the discussion of e-waste in an exciting way. What could be more exciting than building a race car?” says Gallagher.
